This Wednesday Real Madrid defeated Chelsea FC 2-0 with goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, and after the match, Thibaut Courtois, goalkeeper of the 'Casa Blanca', commented on the result.
"When you play against ten, you have the feeling of being able to have killed the tie, but they can leave with the feeling of having scored a goal. 2-0 is a good result, but there is a feeling of having scored a third or fourth goal. I hope we don't regret not scoring another goal here in the second leg," he commented on Movistar+.
Regarding the opponent, the Belgian goalkeeper added: "They had a good start with a very good counterattack. Then, making a save after the goal is worth a lot. Very happy with that save," he added. Also, Courtois added: "In the second half, we had a very complete defensive game. We only lacked keeping possession long in the last two minutes."
Finally, the goalkeeper indicated that, although they start with a 2-0 advantage for the second leg, he does not consider the tie closed: "We must face it as if it were tied, as we did against Barcelona, when we needed to win. If you go out with a mentality of 'let's see what happens', you quickly find yourself losing 2-0, as happened to them last year. I hope we start well and score the first goal."
