The Villarreal player Alex Baena, victim of an "aggression" by the Uruguayan from Real Madrid Federico Valverde, denounced on Twitter on Monday the "insults" and "death threats" received after the incident that occurred after the match between the two teams on Saturday.
"Last Saturday I was attacked by a fellow professional after the match against Real Madrid. After the incident, some statements allegedly made by his surroundings came to light, in which it was said that he had wished for the pain of a family member", summarizing what happened Baena in a message spread through his social networks.
"Since then, and as it cannot be otherwise, no evidence has been published that proves the facts attributed to me", added the young Andalusian player, 21 years old, who on Sunday night filed a complaint with the police for the assault.
According to the Spanish press, Valverde waited for Baena in the parking area where the teams' buses park and when the Villarreal player appeared, the Uruguayan punched him.
The conflict between the two would go back to the Copa del Rey round of 16 match that Real Madrid won 3-2 on January 19th.
During that match, Baena would have had some unpleasant words about the son expected by Federico Valverde and his wife, the well-known Argentine journalist Mina Bonino, who was having problems with her pregnancy.
"A misfortune was taken advantage of to justify the aggression and there are lies that hurt more than the blows," denounced Baena in his message, adding that since the incident he has been receiving "threats, insults and even private messages wishing death upon my family."
"The damage that is being done to my family is irreparable and unjustifiable," Baena added, who after filing the complaint with the police, only wishes that "justice does its work." AFP
