At the 16th minute of the game, Real Madrid found the back of Villarreal's net. Asensio played a one-two with 'Vini' and then finished powerfully, with Pau Torres ending up scoring an own goal.

After eliminating Barcelona from the Copa del Rey, Real Madrid is motivated to reduce the gap with the blaugranas in LaLiga Santander (they are separated by 12 units) and for the moment, they have already started winning against Villarreal in the framework of the 28th matchday of Spanish football, thanks to an own goal by Pau Torres after a good play by Asencio and Vinicius.

Madrid started the match against Villarreal in a very good way. The white team took 16 minutes to score their first goal and did so with a bit of luck, in an unfortunate action by the Castellón defense.

In the 16th minute, Marco Asensio started a run from his own half and Álex Baena followed him closely, but couldn't take the ball away from him. The midfielder saw Vinicius' run and played a through ball. The Brazilian took a touch and the ball came back to the '11'.

Immediately, Asensio didn't hesitate to hit the ball with power and bad luck struck Villarreal, as it was deflected by Mandi and then Pau Torres. The latter touched it with his thigh and the ball ended up in the back of the net.

Real Madrid vs. Villarreal: what's coming

With high self-esteem (having just come from a comeback and elimination against Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semifinals), Real Madrid hosts Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium for LaLiga Santander. The whites will try to win everything they have pending in the local tournament and hope for a stumble from the leader, Barcelona, who have a 12-point advantage in the standings.

Although they will face Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals midweek (4/14), Carlo Ancelotti assured that they won't hold back, so they will go all out to seek victory against a 'Yellow Submarine' that wants to reach Champions League positions for the next season.

Villarreal, sixth with 44 points, is only four points away from a direct spot in the Champions League, currently held by Real Sociedad (48), so they will try to cause an upset at the Bernabéu to arrive motivated for the match at home against Real Valladolid (4/15).
