Jorge Sampaoli's hours are numbered: Sevilla is working on his dismissal due to poor results.

After suffering another defeat with the Andalusian team at the hands of Getafe, the executives are working on firing the Argentine coach. They are already looking for a replacement.

The recent defeat of Sevilla at the hands of Getafe (2-0) was the final blow for Jorge Sampaoli, as the directors of the Andalusian team have already decided to terminate his contract, which still runs until June next year. With no answers in the team's performance, relegation looming, and twelve matchdays left in LaLiga Santander, the Argentine coach will leave Spain without glory or regrets.

The fourteenth position in which Sevilla is located is not secure for anything, as they are only two points away from the relegation zone. Thus, the 28 points in 26 matches could become a martyrdom if the team does not improve in the coming weeks. And that's not all, as they have the quarterfinals of the Europa League against Manchester United.

As César Luis Merlo has reported on his Twitter account, the former coach of the Argentine national team will not continue in Spanish football, and the Sevilla team is working to avoid a penalty for breaking the contract early. "Sevilla decided to fire Jorge Sampaoli, with a contract valid until June 2024. The club is already working to finalize the contract and avoid paying the highest amount of money," said the journalist from TyC Sports.

The top executives of Sevilla do not want to waste any more time, and while they resolve the problem with Sampaoli, they are already looking for a replacement. The chosen one would be José Luis Mendilibar, who last season directed a few matchdays for Alavés and has experience fighting at the bottom of the standings.

The idea of Sevilla is for the new coach to make avoiding relegation their main goal. They have already had to endure a streak of poor results throughout the season, so a disastrous ending is not an option. Not even a glimmer of glory in the Europa League could serve as a balm: it's about staying in LaLiga Santander or nothing.

The numbers left by Sampaoli at Sevilla

Just a few hours before the dismissal of Jorge Sampaoli from Sevilla is confirmed, the numbers from his second stint at the Sánchez Pizjuán have been too low: thirteen wins, six draws, and twelve defeats in thirty-one matches directed, including LaLiga Santander, Champions League, Europa League, and Copa del Rey.
