Barcelona officially signs Joao Mendes, Ronaldinho's son, for its youth team
The 18-year-old forward has been developed in the lower divisions of Cruzeiro until the end of his contract last year.
Joao Mendes, Ronaldinho's son, has signed with Barcelona's youth team, the Catalan club announced in a statement.
In recent weeks, he underwent several trials with Barza before reaching an agreement with the Spanish team, which does not specify the duration of the contract.
Joao Mendes thus joins Barcelona's youth academy, fifteen years after his father left the Catalan capital.
Famous for his spectacular technique, Ronaldinho had joined Barcelona from Paris Saint-Germain in 2003, a year after winning the 2002 World Cup with Brazil.
He won two La Liga titles as well as the 2006 Champions League with Barcelona, before signing with AC Milan in 2008.
At 42 years old, Ronaldinho put on his boots again last weekend to play in the 'King's League', the 7-a-side football competition founded by Gerard Piqué. AFP
