Real Madrid staged a great comeback in the second half of their match against Villarreal at La Cerámica, reversing the 2-0 deficit they had at half-time to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey (2-3).
A goal in the third minute allowed Quique Setién's team to control the game relatively easily in the first half against a Real Madrid side without a response, and they saw their chances of advancing diminish further when Chukwueze scored four minutes before half-time.
But Real Madrid's change in the second half was total, especially after the entry of Dani Ceballos and Marco Asensio. Goals from Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao and Ceballos allowed Carlo Ancelotti's team to secure the victory and progress to the quarterfinals.
To reach this stage, Real Madrid narrowly defeated Cacereño thanks to a goal from Rodrygo.
Villarreal, on the other hand, defeated Cartagena 5-1 with goals from Alejandro Baena Rodríguez, Arnaut Danjuma, José Luis Morales, Samuel Chukwueze, and Etienne Capoue.
It is worth mentioning that both teams recently faced each other in LaLiga, also at Estadio de la Cerámica. The result back then was 2-1 in favor of the 'Yellow Submarine'.
