Robert Lewandowski wins the Golden Boot for the 2021-2022 season
Robert Lewandowski's goal-scoring ability is unquestionable and his numbers have been impressive during his time at Bayern Munich. The Polish striker, now playing for Barcelona, scored 35 goals in the 2021-2022 Bundesliga season and won the Golden Boot, a prize he has won for the second consecutive season.
This time, the forward surpassed Kylian Mbappé (PSG), who scored 28 goals; Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) and Ciro Immobile (Lazio), both tied with 27 goals. The award was finally presented on Wednesday, by representatives of European Sports Media, the organizing company of the ceremony.
Lewandowski, along with his family, attended the ceremony accompanied by Xavi Hernández and Joan Laporta, coach and president of Barcelona respectively. On this occasion, the Golden Boot was presented by Carles Puyol, a former defender and captain of the Catalan club.
Precisely, the former player only had words of praise for the goalscorer: "He is very complete, difficult to mark. Luckily, I didn't have to face him. He dominates all aspects, has good control. A tough opponent. The board and the technical secretary did a great job in a complicated situation. He has adapted very quickly like great players and hopefully he will win it again next year."
Immediately, Robert Lewandowski responded and explained how he feels in this new stage with the 'Culés': "I am very happy in Barcelona, also proud. For me, this is very important, now I know that this is more than a club. Many thanks to my wife and family, also to my teammates at Bayern."
"It will be a great season and I see everything as a challenge. Although mistakes have been made, I am convinced that it will be a great experience, especially for the young players," concluded the Polish striker, who already has 13 goals in 14 LaLiga Santander matches.
