Overwhelming: Lewandowski's figures compared to Ronaldo, Suárez, Eto'o and Zlatan [VIDEO]

Domingo 18 de Septiembre del 2022

The Polish forward has changed Barcelona's face. With a string of goals, he wins over the fans and already has better numbers than his predecessors, many of whom are now club legends.

The smile of Robert Lewandowski is synonymous with a Barcelona that shows its rebirth after the departure of Lionel Messi a while ago. The Polish player has scored up to eight goals in six LaLiga Santander matchdays. Last weekend, for example, he scored a double against Elche, which was no match for him at Camp Nou. His numbers speak for themselves, as he has surpassed the figures of other historical center forwards of the club.

Playing the same number of matches in his debut season, no other Catalan reinforcement has had even a similar performance. In the 1993-1994 season, when Romario joined the team, he only scored six goals, while three years later Ronaldo scored five. Not to mention Patrick Kluivert, who found the net only three times.

Getting closer to the present time, Cameroonian Samuel Eto'o scored five times in his first matches of the 2004-2005 season. And five years later, the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the same number of goals. Another center forward who arrived as a new signing was Luis Suárez, who did not play until the ninth league match and only managed to score in the eighth game he played.

The numbers are clear. Robert Lewandowski has broken all records. In addition to his eight goals in domestic competition, he has three more in the Champions League. He also has a couple of assists that further consolidate his good moment at the age of 34. Undoubtedly, one of the best signings of Barcelona in recent years.

How much did Barcelona pay for Robert Lewandowski?

The Polish forward was announced by the Catalan team last July. Lewandowski signed a five-year contract, until 2027, for which the Spanish club paid Bayern Munich about 45 million euros plus 5 in variables.

This way, the player from the Polish national team left the Bavarian club after eight seasons, in which he won the Champions League (2020), eight Bundesliga titles, and a Club World Cup (2020), in addition to being chosen FIFA's Player of the Year twice (2020 and 2021). During that time, he scored 344 goals and provided 72 assists in 374 matches.
