Xavi on Messi's return to FC Barcelona in the 2022-23 season: "It doesn't make sense to talk about Leo now."

FC Barcelona will face Juventus in Dallas on Tuesday for their third friendly match of the American tour. Xavi Hernandez referred to the quality of his squad and was also asked about Lionel Messi's return.

"Leo has a contract and it's impossible. It doesn't make sense to talk about Messi now. He is the best player in the world and in history. The President has already said that hopefully Messi's story with Barca won't end. We'll see in the future, but now it's not the time to talk about Leo, we have to talk about the players we have, it's an exciting year," Xavi said.

Lionel Messi has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain after ending his contract with Barcelona in 2021 without a renewal. Now, the Argentine player will live his second season with the Parisian team alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

On the other hand, Xavi referred to the comparisons with Guardiola: "I don't have the idea of equaling Pep, what I want is for Barca to win. It's not a question of ego, I don't want to surpass Pep or Johan or anyone. On the contrary, I have been nourished by them, I am their student, my dream is to bring Barca back to the top of the world."
