No more as a Real Madrid player. Serbian Luka Jovic leaves the discipline of Real Madrid, to which he arrived in the summer of 2019 for around 60 million euros and where he has spent three seasons, scoring only three goals. He has already signed a contract with Fiorentina until 2024.

In the deal, Real Madrid saves Jovic's salary and retains a percentage of a future sale during his stay in Italy with Fiorentina.

Jovic has not performed well at any moment in Madrid. Besides only scoring three goals with the white shirt, two of them in his first season, he was nowhere near threatening Karim Benzema's position, who, moreover, had the best season of his career last year and is the top favorite for the Ballon d'Or.

Jovic did not stand out at Real Madrid and is now looking for success at Fiorentina

So much so that the Serbian has only started two consecutive matches on two occasions. The first one was in the 2020 Spanish Super Cup, a title they won. He played 83 minutes in the semifinals against Valencia (1-3), where he provided an assist, and another 83 minutes against Atletico Madrid (0-0 and 4-1 in penalties) in the final.

The second time he played two consecutive games was at the start of the following season in LaLiga Santander. 72 minutes against Betis and 58 minutes against Valladolid; his presence had no influence on the scoreline.

In January 2021, Real Madrid decided, at the player's request, to loan Jovic to Eintracht Frankfurt, the club from which they signed him after he shone at just 21 years old, finishing his last season with 27 goals and seven assists in 48 matches.

In his Bundesliga debut, he scored two goals in 27 minutes, but it was a mirage; he only scored two more goals in the following four months.

Luka Jovic ran out of gas at Real Madrid

After this loan spell, he returned to Real Madrid, but his presence in the team was marginal, even being surpassed by Mariano Diaz or Isco Alarcon - as false '9' alternatives to Benzema.

His peak moment at the white team, in terms of individual performance, came on December 4, 2021 when, with Benzema injured in the 17th minute, Luka Jovic came on the field in San Sebastian to lead his team, providing an assist to Vinicius and scoring a goal in the 2-0 victory against Real Sociedad.

However, Benzema's return from his muscle problem was faster than expected, and Jovic returned to obscurity. This circumstance prompted him to request a transfer during the winter transfer window, but after a conversation with Carlo Ancelotti, he stayed. Now, he heads to Fiorentina with the pressure of replacing his compatriot Dusan Vlahovic - now at Juventus - and with the aim, as his father recently said, of "finding out who is right and who is wrong".
