Cameroon's historic figure and all-time top scorer, Samuel Eto'o, has now become the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot). Against all odds, the 40-year-old Cameroonian will take charge of Cameroonian football to turn it into an African powerhouse for the 'Lions'.

Samuel Eto'o presented his candidacy in September last year to become the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation. The former Barcelona player was clear about his ideas and what he was facing: "I will be the next president of the federation despite all the traps", he stated prior to his election.

Not only did he receive the votes that allowed him to take over Cameroonian football, but the people also esteem him, remember him, and choose him. Outside the Fecafoot headquarters, many supporters approached him saying: "Eto'o president! Eto'o president!"

The figure of Cameroonian football referred to his candidacy as a way to rebuild football in his country. For Samuel Eto'o, the situation was clear, the former president has miserably failed, and a change was urgently needed: "Seidou Mbombo Njoya has miserably failed". He also confesses to regretting his support for him in the 2018 World Cup.

In fact, it is precisely Seidou Mbombo Njoya whom he defeated in these elections. Samuel Eto'o scored 43 points and won by 12 against his opponent. The voting took place in Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon.
