His team, Real Valladolid of LaLiga SmartBank, regretted the case in which the forward is involved, which happened during the early hours of Wednesday.
"Real Valladolid deplores the behavior of its player, Gonzalo Plata, who, according to the information received, suffered a traffic accident in the city center this morning," informed the Spanish team.
"Preserving the privacy of the player, the Club reserves the appropriate disciplinary measures, and will open the corresponding file when it has all the information," added the club about the striker who arrived on loan from Sporting Club de Portugal.
Gonzalo Plata protagonized accident in Spain
The accident occurred when the car driven by Gonzalo Plata collided in the center of Valladolid with a taxi, which overturned on one side, according to images broadcasted by various local media.
At the accident scene, a 41-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were treated and evacuated to a hospital, according to Valladolid emergency services, although their injuries were not serious.
After the collision, Gonzalo Plata registered a blood alcohol level of more than 0.60 mg/l in the corresponding breathalyzer test, when the limit is 0.25. The Ecuadorian, a regular call-up by Gustavo Alfaro to participate in the 2022 Qatar Qualifiers with his national team, is being investigated for a crime against road safety.
