Pedro González, popularly known as 'Pedri', wins the Kopa award for the best young player
The midfielder of FC Barcelona gave an interview to the French magazine France Football and talked about various topics, such as Xavi's arrival as Barcelona's coach and his time in the Real Madrid youth academy.
"Without Las Palmas, I would have never been here talking to you. I had spent a week undergoing trials at Real Madrid, training in the cold. But, according to them, I didn't have the level," said the 19-year-old player.
The midfielder also recalled his beginnings in professional football and his experience in the promotion of his country. "Las Palmas was a natural choice anyway because any child from the Canary Islands dreams of playing there. The second division in Spain is very tough. It's a different style of football: stronger, more physical, you don't have the ball like in La Liga with Barcelona."

Finally, 'Pedri' indicated that he trusts that the Barcelona team will recover under the technical direction of Xavi Hernández. "I am convinced that we will improve with him. He has a very clear idea of the game."
'Pedri' praised Lionel Messi
The Spanish midfielder also recalled what it was like to play alongside Argentine Lionel Messi at FC Barcelona. "Playing with Messi is easy, it's fun. Every time I played with him, I looked for him. You don't ask yourself questions, you know he will do things very well," he said.
