The coach of Barcelona's reserve team, Sergi Barjuan, will temporarily take charge of the first team following the departure of coach Ronald Koeman and pending the appointment of a new coach, Barcelona announced on Thursday through its social media.
"Sergi Barjuan, the current coach of Barça B, will temporarily take over the technical direction of the first team," said Barcelona in a statement.
Barjuan will be in charge until "the club closes the hiring of a new coach" after Koeman's dismissal, added the note.
The interim coach is scheduled to appear before the media on Friday, accompanied by president Joan Laporta, Barcelona concluded, which dismissed Koeman after the defeat against Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga.

Barjuan, 50, was part of the 'Dream Team' of the 1990s led by Johan Cruyff, in which the dismissed Koeman was also a member.
After almost a decade wearing the Barcelona jersey, Barjuan played three seasons at Atlético de Madrid before retiring from football.
After ending his playing career, Sergi Barjuan coached teams such as Almería, Mallorca, or China's Hangzhou Greentown until he took charge of Barcelona's reserve team last June.
