FC Barcelona falls to Rayo Vallecano
The FC Barcelona lost 1-0 in their visit to the Vallecas stadium against Rayo Vallecano for the eleventh matchday of LaLiga Santander. The blue and red team were surprised by a fierce local squad that scored the only goal of the match at the 30-minute mark of the first half through Radamel Falcao García. With this result, the culés suffered their second consecutive defeat, after losing last weekend in the Spanish classic against Real Madrid (1-2).
The team led by Ronald Koeman now ranks ninth with 15 points in the Spanish league table, thus being out of European competitions and moving away from the top. The blaugranas had several goal opportunities, such as the missed penalty by Memphis Depay or the action of 'Kun' Agüero -who played as a starter this Wednesday- in the second half, but they were not effective and ended up losing.
The Dutch coach analyzed the match in a press conference and pointed out why they had fallen to the Rayistas. "The match we lost is not due to attitude and it is not due to gameplay. It is a matter of not scoring, I can't say anything else," said Koeman, according to EFE.

He also highlighted the work of his team, stating that they deserved more in the match. "I can't complain about the team. We struggled to get into the game, Rayo pressed us a lot and we couldn't hold on, but still I think we were superior. Looking at the opportunities we had and theirs, I think the result is not fair, but it's there and we can't change it," commented the FC Barcelona coach.
In addition, he stated that they need to improve their efficiency in front of the goal: "There are many matches ahead to think about the league. I am concerned about our effectiveness, but not about our gameplay. We have created and played at a good level, although in Spain it doesn't count because the result is 1-0," he said.
The next match for Barça will be on Saturday, October 30, at home against Alaves in the Spanish league.
