Last Sunday, Barcelona lost 1-2 to Real Madrid at Camp Nou and their present is still far from what the 'culés' fans have expected for several seasons. Carles Puyol, former player of the Catalan team, talked about this delicate sporting moment.
"At Barça, the demand is always maximum, especially after years in which many things have been won and we have played very well. We know that the best player in history has just left and we are in a rebuilding stage," he said at a press conference.
On the other hand, the Spanish former footballer also asked the fans to behave better towards the players of the team: "Whistling at the players doesn't do anything, this should not happen. We have to row all together, we can only overcome this if we are united."
Furthermore, Puyol expressed optimism about continuing with Ronald Koeman at the helm of the team and he is confident that the bad sporting situation that Barcelona is currently in can be reversed, not only in the Spanish LaLiga but also in the Champions League.
"Ronald knows the club perfectly, he is building a team. I am not pessimistic, there is time to turn the situation around. We have not been consistent so far, but I trust this squad," added Carles Puyol.
