The Peruvian striker started in the match between LDU and Defensa y Justicia, and amazed the entire American continent after scoring two goals at 39 years old and being crucial in the victory of the Quito team. However, many criticized him for his lack of goals and the one who defended him was the president of Liga de Quito.
"We could expect more goals from Paolo, but the hierarchy he has shown on the field and his presence have made us look like a respected team, not saying that we weren't before. He played 10 years in Europe, 10 in Brazil and now he has stated that he is in the best team in Ecuador," said the president of LDU in an interview with the Mundo Deportivo newspaper.

Furthermore, Álvarez decided to comment on how the team feels with Paolo Guerrero's presence within the institution, and did not hesitate to talk about a possible renewal for the next season. Let's remember that the Peruvian striker will turn 40 years old on January 1, 2024.
