The president of the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation (FEF), Francisco Egas, spoke about the call-up of Ecuador's coach, Félix Sánchez, shortly before the debut in the World Cup Qualifiers against Argentina.
"We find out about the call-up just a few minutes before you (the press), when we watch the video to ensure that the message being conveyed is appropriate. The selection is entirely up to the coach and we are extremely respectful of his decisions," he explained in an interview with radio La Red.
He then analyzed how the qualification will start: "We are about to embark on an extremely long journey, where we will have ups and downs, and where the strength of all of us who love La Tri will allow us to land in the good moments and rise from the bad ones."
Egas assured that good previous work has been done: "It's a mix of excitement, nerves, and desire, but we have the peace of mind of working well. La Tri has returned to competition mode, we played a few friendly matches to get to know the squad and coaching staff better."
