"I would have loved to have a player like him": the analysis they make in Chile about Paolo's debut in the Sudamericana 2023 [VIDEO].

Hace un año

From Chile, Jaime Garcia Arevalo, coach of the Chilean team Ñublense, talks about the hierarchy of the national team's forward, who he will face for the third time this year.

This duel has a special ingredient, since this year, Paolo Guerrero with the Racing shirt faced Ñublense in the Copa Libertadores and in both matches, the national forward came out victorious on both occasions (4-0 and 2-0). Likewise, Guerrero scored and gave an assist to Matías Rojas' goal in the first leg, while in the second leg he provided an assist for Gonzalo Piovi.

El Comercio contacted Ñublense coach Jaime García Arévalo, regarding facing Paolo Guerrero again for the third time this year.

-You faced Paolo Guerrero this year when he was at Racing and we want to know your feelings about facing him again now with LDU.

Paolo Guerrero is a different player, he moves very well, maybe he hasn't completely lost his speed. He compensates for many things with his mobility, I would have loved to have a player like him who knows how to move and is difficult to mark, because of his size, he moves well and knows his position very well.

-But will you assign a man-marking on Paolo Guerrero?

No, I often try to give confidence to the players in every way that he is a player, regardless of the marking that will be a complicated footballer.

-At 39 years old, is Paolo Guerrero still a top striker...?

With whatever age he has, Paolo Guerrero's best asset is his ability to move well in space, he holds up well, so to play as a '9' like him you have to know how to play with Paolo. I believe that they have not taken advantage of what he has been doing for years.

-What worries you about LDU?

They have been winning for 11 or 12 matches, if I'm not mistaken, they are a very tough rival, fast, strong, since they have very quick transitions, and we know what we are facing, considering what we are playing for. We are a team with a very small squad and we try to fight it with our own arguments, since we have good arguments to face them, we have good technique, but we know they are a difficult opponent.
