Peruvian Shoely Mego Contreras obtained first place in the latest ranking of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in the 55 kg division.
The Peruvian Institute of Sport (IPD) noted that she achieved this position after winning three gold medals in snatch, clean and jerk, and total at the Pan American Weightlifting Championship 2023, held in Argentina in March, and the bronze medal at the Bogotá 2022 world championship.
Our champion belongs to the IPD's Athlete Support Program and in this Women's 55 kg world ranking, she surpassed Canada's Josee Gallant, who finished in second place, while Jennifer Hernández of Ecuador obtained third place. Reported by El Comercio.

The award-winning young woman left her hometown of Bagua when she was young to study in the city of Chiclayo, and when she was in high school, she was invited to train in weightlifting. In 2017, she came to Lima to study psychology but decided to continue in sports after winning her first international medals.
