The U-17 Peruvian National Team is working hand in hand with Pablo Zegarra, and the goal at the end of the year is clear: to have a great performance in the World Cup of this category, in which we will be the hosts. Prior to the World Cup, which will start in November, the 'Blanquirroja' will have to compete in the South American Championship, which will be held in Ecuador, to continue adding matches and analyze the level of the players who will be called up. Thus, this Friday the draw took place in Luque, Paraguay, and the groups of the continental tournament were defined.

As planned for a few weeks, the Competitions and Operations Directorate of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) carried out the corresponding draw for the tournament that will be held in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil. The schedule of matches will start on March 30 and end on April 23.

Thus, the groups were formed as follows: Group A, with Ecuador, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, and Colombia; while Group B, with Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Bolivia. Now, Pablo Zegarra will be able to plan his work schedule thinking about his next opponents.

What is the qualification system for the U-17 South American Championship?

The 2023 U-17 South American Championship in Ecuador will be developed in two stages: the Preliminary Phase, better known as the Group Stage, and the Final Phase, also called the Final Hexagonal. In the first stage, the teams from both groups will play in a round-robin format, and the top three teams from each zone will join a group of six. Finally, the top four teams from this last group will qualify for the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Peru.
