Everything is ready and set, the Chilean U-20 national team makes its debut in the 2023 South American Championship in Colombia this Friday at 9:30 PM against Ecuador, at the Deportivo Cali stadium in Palmira, for the first match of Group B.
The team led by Patricio Ormazábal is already qualified as the host for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago and does not need to compete for one of the three available spots, but rather for one of the four tickets to the 2023 Indonesia World Cup.
In the last four friendly matches, the U-20 team defeated Brazil by 3-0 and 3-2, and drew 2-2 and lost 2-0 against Uruguay.
Against Ecuador, barring any setbacks, the Chilean U-20 team will line up with Vicente Reyes in goal; Matías Vásquez, Tomás Avilés, Sebastián Pino, and Marcelo Morales in defense; Renato Cordero, Jeison Fuentealba, and Maicol León in midfield; Darío Osorio, Vicente Conelli, and Lucas Assadi in attack.
After Ecuador, the Chilean team will face Uruguay and Bolivia, with a free match on the fourth round. They will close the group stage against Venezuela.
It is worth noting that Patricio Ormazábal has among his star players the gems from Universidad de Chile, Lucas Assadi and Darío Osorio, along with Colo Colo's promise, Joan Cruz.
Among the absences, goalkeeper Eduardo Villanueva suffered an injury that will prevent him from being part of the Chilean squad, and the national coach called up emergency goalkeeper Pedro Garrido.
