The coach of Barcelona, Fabián Bustos, stated in a press conference prior to the match against Aucas on Sunday, for matchday 14 of the LigaPro: "Today, the most important thing for us are the two finals. The biggest objective is to win the 17th title."
Barcelona has already run out of options to win this Second Stage of the tournament, so they are already thinking about the home and away finals they will have to face with the club that finishes first.
The candidate for that is Aucas, who has 27 points with two matches remaining. The other team is Universidad Católica with 24 points.
On Sunday, for matchday 14, they will face Aucas, who will come with a complete team, while Coach Bustos will field a mixed team.
"Aucas can play in many ways, César Farías is a great coach and he will surely come to seek what suits him," said Bustos.
The coach highlighted Aucas' "good defensive block and very good football generation. This team has great options to reach the final."
Regarding the real possibility of playing the finals of the 2022 tournament against Aucas, he mentioned that: "One thing is a regular match and another thing is a final. This match will be completely different from what I think we would have to play in a possible final."
And the point that Bustos emphasized the most is the fact of playing the finals at the Banco Pichincha stadium. The match on Sunday will be played at the Los Chirijos stadium in Milagro, as the Monumental stadium is loaned to the South American Football Confederation, which is preparing the venue for the Copa Libertadores Final, on October 29.
