After the defeat against Delfín, Liga de Quito is already out of chances to win the second round and has two more matches in the LigaPro to try to qualify for the 2023 CONMEBOL Libertadores, their ultimate goal for the year.
For now, they are in the Sudamericana, but the albo team wants to qualify for the region's premier tournament. Luis Zubeldía's team is focused on the overall standings, where they currently occupy fifth place with 49 points.
The only option to go to the Libertadores is to finish in first place, something that is distant, as Universidad Católica currently holds that position with 53 points.
In the final matches, the university team will play against Guayaquil City at home and will visit Macará in Ambato on the last matchday.
If they fail to reach the Libertadores, it will be the second year in a row that they have not secured a spot in the tournament, after not qualifying in 2022.
