The first leg between Melgar and Independiente del Valle, for the semifinals of the 2022 Copa Sudamericana, is about to take place. The 'rayado' team knows it won't be easy to face the Arequipa team; however, they maintain the goal of keeping the victory at home, even if not the ticket sales.

According to Ecuadorian media, the club plans to donate 100% of the ticket sales from the match, which will be played on Wednesday, August 31st, starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado Stadium in Quito. This is with the purpose of helping the REDNI Foundation.

The organization, which is responsible for working towards the eradication of chronic child malnutrition, has projects throughout Ecuador to assist families with limited resources in accessing proper nutrition through agreements with different sectors of society.

This initiative is not the only one that Independiente del Valle has carried out in recent years. In February, the Sangolquí team donated all the ticket sales from the presentation of the squad for this season to the victims of the landslide in the La Gasca neighborhood.

When the earthquake occurred in April 2016 in the Ecuadorian provinces of Esmeraldas and Manabí, Independiente del Valle's vice president, Michel Deller, announced that all ticket sales during the final rounds of the Copa Libertadores that year (which they reached the final) would be donated to the victims. The donation was administered by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Beyond the result, the club's goal is to continue working to improve opportunities for more Ecuadorian citizens. This, without neglecting the sports aspect, which is focused on closing the match in their favor to reach another Sudamericana final, just like they did in 2019 when they won the title.
