The starting goalkeeper of Liga Deportiva Universitarias de Quito at the beginning of the second stage, Brian Heras, talked about the team's present and the fight for the goal in Luis Zubeldía's squad, in a thorough conversation with journalists from La Red FM 102.1: "In the match against Gualaceo on Saturday I felt very calm. I think I did a good job and provided security to my teammates. I wasn't nervous, rather, I was excited for the match to come," admitted the goalkeeper about his debut.
After the injuries of Uruguayan Falcón and Argentine Gabbarini, Heras kept the position and is not worried about Alexander Domínguez being mentioned to strengthen the squad: "I always like to compete and work with great professionals. I trust in my abilities, I know I can fight for a spot. If Alexander (Domínguez) arrives, we will work to make the team champions," he added. And he continued: "I have read that Liga wants to bring Alexander Domínguez, I am happy about that, he is my good friend. If he arrives, I will have to work harder to keep being the starter. This doesn't bother me at all, it's motivation."
Liga is a team that always starts as a favorite and the player from Cuenca knows it: "This Liga shirt weighs a lot. The fans are very demanding, they pressure you to win." He also knows that one of the Blanco club's objectives is the second stage of the Liga Pro: "This will be a very tough stage for all teams. We are going to fight to win it."
About his adaptation, and that of his family, Brian Heras said that the matter is very well underway: "My children, my wife, have quickly settled in Quito. They are happy. Maybe the traffic caught us again, but we are adapted. Personally, I am already adjusted, the climate in Cuenca is similar."
Finally, the goalkeeper was very clear about his motivations: "I prepare myself every day to be a starter, I give my maximum effort, but I understand that only one goalkeeper plays. I was waiting for my moment and it happened this weekend."
