This Thursday, the hearing of the FIFA Appeals Committee will take place regarding the alleged improper alignment of the soccer player in the Eliminatories.

On Thursday, the FIFA Appeals Committee will hold a hearing regarding the alleged improper alignment of the player in the World Cup qualifiers.

Byron Castillo continues to be in the eye of the storm regarding the complaint made by the Chilean National Professional Football Association (ANFP) about the alleged improper alignment of the player in the qualifiers for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee announced in June the closure of the proceedings initiated when Chile reported the "use of false certificate, false age declaration, and false nationality" of the player, considering that he was born in Colombia.

But Chile was not satisfied with the decision made by the governing body of world football and filed an appeal, scheduling a hearing before the FIFA Appeals Committee for Thursday, September 15.

This hearing will take place after the release of an audio in which the player reportedly admitted to being Colombian and not Ecuadorian.

In the recording, Castillo "clearly states that he was born in 1995, not in 1998, as stated on his Ecuadorian birth certificate," narrates the British newspaper Daily Mail, which published the audio.

The player states his full name as Byron Javier Castillo Segura, which corresponds to his Colombian birth certificate, not the Ecuadorian one, where he is identified as Byron David Castillo Segura, according to the English media.

He also "describes in detail how he left the Colombian city of Tumaco to go to San Lorenzo, in Ecuador, to try to build a career in football" and "mentions Ecuadorian businessmen who provided him with a new identity."

Let's remember that in the qualifiers, Byron Castillo was present in the draws against Argentina (1-1) and Chile (0-0), in the victories against Venezuela (1-0), Chile (2-0), Bolivia (3-0), and Paraguay (2-0), and in the defeats against Paraguay (3-1) and Uruguay (1-0).

If the governing body of world football decides to sanction Ecuador, the table would look as follows:
