With an alternate team, Ecuador drew 1-1 with El Salvador on Friday, December 4th in a FIFA friendly at BBVA Compass Stadium, United States, a few days before the double date of the Qualifiers towards Qatar 2022.

Michael Carcelén opened the scoring in the 18th minute of the first half, however, El Salvador would equalize the game in the 43rd minute with a goal by Rómulo Villalobos, thus, both teams went into halftime tied.

In the second half, the Ecuadorians had the opportunity to take the victory, however, they were not able to take advantage of the clear goal-scoring chances they had.
