With Cruz Azul turned into a powder keg when only two rounds have passed of the Mexican Clausura tournament, the destiny of Ecuadorian Bryan Angulo in the club that owns his sports rights remains undefined. The team from the Mexican capital is second to last and has no points.
According to several Mexican media outlets, Angulo already has an "agreement" with a team from Ecuador "for a loan without a mandatory purchase option." That verbal agreement is probably with Emelec.
But a source from the millionaire leadership, consulted by EL UNIVERSO and who requested that his name be kept confidential, clarified the scenario regarding the forward. They said that as long as Cruz Azul's coach (owner of the Guayaquil striker's sports rights), Peruvian Juan Reynoso, does not decide whether he will consider him or not for the Clausura 2021, there is no possibility of completing the repatriation. El Cuco Angulo was champion and a standout with the blues in 2017.
"As long as Cruz Azul's coach does not resolve (to release him), it is impossible to move forward" in the negotiations for Angulo, revealed the source. The team from the Mexican capital, which is second to last in two rounds, would be getting rid of Uruguayan forward Jonathan Rodríguez due to acts of indiscipline, attending a party in which he violated the biosecurity protocols ordered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This would open up the possibility for the Ecuadorian to stay in the institution.
However, if Rodríguez is released, there is another option to cover the foreign player quota, and his place would be occupied by Argentine Adolfo Gaich. According to the newspaper "ESTO", the 21-year-old Argentine will not play for CSKA Moscow and is looking to be loaned out. If Gaich arrives, Angulo would not be registered. Until January 31st, there is time to register new players in Liga MX, that is, until that date, Angulo's return to Emelec would not be officially announced.
Regarding El Cuco, "Récord" newspaper reported that "since a few days ago, he reported who, for now, works separated from the group and who will have an opportunity to catch the eye of the coaching staff before opting for a foreign striker. Cruz Azul has until January 31st to resolve the situation of arrivals and departures, so at least two movements are expected."
Angulo, who played for Xolos de Tijuana in the previous tournament, is not registered in Liga MX and will be "evaluated" by Peruvian coach Juan Reynoso, who initially does not count on him.
In August 2019, the Mexican sports press reported that Angulo's transfer from Emelec to Cruz Azul was closed for an approximate amount of $6 million and that the striker arrived with a three-year contract to the Celestial Machine.
The offer was "irresistible" for the electric club and the contract economically was "insane" for the footballer, so the transfer to Cruz Azul, from Liga MX, could not be delayed any longer, a source told this newspaper when the signing of El Cuco was closed, 17 months ago. Angulo could not settle in the Cruz Azul squad and was at Xolos de Tijuana last season, which did not renew the loan. (D)
