Deportivo Cuenca announced on Sunday the signing of Panamanian international Roderick Miller Molina as their new Morlaco center back for 2021, however, hours later the Central American player allegedly refused to come to Ecuador.

"OFFICIAL. Roderick Miller is the new player of #DCuenca2021. Panamanian center back - 28 years old - with a career in Mexico, Colombia, Portugal and Peru. Selected for his country. Welcome to the #ExpresoAustral", Cuenca posted on their Twitter to announce the recent signing.

With the addition of the Panamanian, Cuenca was adding their sixth reinforcement for the LigaPro Serie A championship that will start in February.

But the Azuayo club had to publicly state around 3:30 PM today to clarify that Miller signed his contract with the club and now urges the player to present himself for training.

According to journalist Andrés Muñoz, who covers the source of the Southern team, Miller signed his contract on Friday, January 15.

Facing this, Deportivo Cuenca spoke through their Twitter to ask the Panamanian to present himself at the institution.

"Regarding the information circulating on social media about the situation of our announced foreign reinforcement this morning (Sunday), the Club Deportivo Cuenca informs its fans and the general public that Panamanian player Roderick Alonso Miller Molina has a signed contract with our institution, so he must report to training," says the statement disseminated on social networks.

So far, for this year, Jean Carlos Peña, Federico Jourdan (Argentine), Maykel Uriarte, Jesi Godoy, Ariel Alcívar, and Central American Miller have been hired.

According to information from Transfermarkt, Miller is an international with the senior national team of Panama since October 2011 and made his debut at the age of 19.

While the Morlacos await the arrival of the recently signed player, Luis Arce and Thiago Serpa joined the 2021 preseason workouts this Sunday. (D)
