Liga de Portoviejo has nine mathematical options to avoid relegation to the B series. The teams that will be relegated to the B series will be the ones that finish in last and second to last place in the overall standings, adding up the two phases.
The remaining matches for each team are: Liga de Portoviejo travels to Riobamba to face Olmedo and then plays at home against Aucas; El Nacional has to host Macará and then visit Orense; Deportivo Cuenca hosts Emelec and then visits Guayaquil City; Orense plays away against Independiente del Valle and then plays at home against El Nacional; and Mushuc Runa visits Barcelona and hosts Delfín.
Two options would be good for Liga de Portoviejo: the first one, winning both of their remaining matches, and the second one, getting at least four more points, although in both situations they will still depend on other results.
Here are the possibilities for Liga de Portoviejo to remain in the LigaPro Serie A:
1) Win against Olmedo and Aucas by any score and Deportivo Cuenca gets no more than one point in their remaining matches, regardless of the results obtained by El Nacional.
2) Defeat Olmedo and Aucas regardless of the score and Orense gets no more than one point in their two remaining matches, without needing to know the results of El Nacional.
3) Beat Olmedo and Aucas by any score and Mushuc Runa gets no more than one point in their remaining matches, regardless of the results obtained by El Nacional.
4) Get at least four points out of the six possible, El Nacional doesn't win their two remaining matches, and Deportivo Cuenca loses their two matches by a total difference of at least five goals (for example: losing by two goals in one match and by three goals in another; or losing by one goal in one match and by four goals in the other, etc.).
5) Obtain at least four points out of the six possible, El Nacional doesn't win their two remaining matches, and Orense loses their two matches by a total difference of at least six goals (for example: losing by three goals in one match and by three goals in another; or losing by two goals in one match and by four goals in the other, etc.).
6) Achieve at least four points out of the six possible, El Nacional doesn't win their two remaining matches, and Mushuc Runa loses their two matches by a total difference of at least eleven goals (for example: losing by six goals in one match and by five goals in another; or losing by four goals in one match and by seven goals in the other, etc.).
7) Win against Olmedo and Aucas by a difference of at least six goals in total between both matches, and Deportivo Cuenca gets no more than two points in their two remaining matches, regardless of the results obtained by El Nacional.
8) Defeat Olmedo and Aucas by a difference of at least seven goals in total between both matches, and Orense gets no more than two points in their two remaining matches, without needing to know the results of El Nacional.
9) Beat Olmedo and Aucas by a difference of at least twelve goals in total between both matches, and Mushuc Runa gets no more than two points in their two remaining matches, regardless of the results obtained by El Nacional. (D).
