Women's Weightlifting National Team of Ecuador Wins Junior Pan-American Championship Online
In the final count, the tricolor team won ten gold medals, three silver medals and four bronze medals.
One of the standout athletes was Kelin Jiménez, the recent sub-17 world champion, who competed in the 76 kg division against athletes who were 20 years old.
In the snatch, the weightlifter achieved 92 kg as her best result in two attempts; while in the clean and jerk, she lifted 117 kg in one attempt and had two successful lifts. The third gold medal was obtained in the Olympic total with 209 kg, 8 kg more than Sindy Santana from the Dominican Republic, who finished in second place.
Samanta Becerra also contributed with three gold medals for Ecuador by winning the 59 kg division. In the snatch, she lifted 86 kg in all three attempts; while in the clean and jerk, she lifted the barbell to 105 kg in two attempts, and when she tried to lift 110 kg, she failed. In the Olympic total, she completed 191 kg and won her third gold medal, surpassing athletes from the United States, Mexico, among other countries.
On the other hand, Emily Anangonó also achieved a gold triplet by winning in the snatch, clean and jerk, and Olympic total in the over 87 kg category.
In the snatch, the Ecuadorian athlete lifted 107 kg in all three attempts; in the clean and jerk, she lifted 130 kg in two attempts, and failed when trying to lift 133 kg; while in the Olympic total, she reached 237 kg, surpassing Noemí Rodríguez from Mexico, who recorded 237 kg and finished in second place.
Another Ecuadorian weightlifter, Bella Paredes, won one gold medal and two silver medals in the 81 kg division.
