The 9 de Octubre Football Club fails to secure promotion
The draw was enough for the 9 de Octubre Football Club to secure its return to the Serie A of Ecuadorian soccer this Thursday, November 5th. However, the October celebration will have to wait until matchday 17 - at least - when the leader of the Serie B LigaPro faces Santa Rita in Guayaquil.
The Super Nine was surprised and defeated (3-2) by Gualaceo, who scored all three goals in the first half.
Vaca, Folleco, and Caicedo scored for the Azuayan team, who made their home advantage count at the Gerardo Leon Pozo stadium.
The visiting team reduced the deficit in the second half through Frickson Erazo and Walberto Caicedo.
Despite the setback, 9 de Octubre remains in first place in the table with 30 points, two more than Manta FC, who failed to defeat Santa Rita at the Jocay stadium (0-0).
The Port City club's match against Santa Rita on matchday 17 is scheduled for November 14th at the Fertisa stadium. (D)
