With the support of the Municipality of Guayaquil and the Ecuadorian Football Federation, Barcelona Sporting Club presented this Thursday the candidacy of the Monumental Banco Pichincha stadium to host the single final of the Copa Libertadores, either in its 2021, 2022, or 2023 edition.
"South American brothers, Guayaquil is preparing to receive you with the warmth and passion that characterizes us," both the sports institution and the municipality posted on social media, accompanied by an emotional video. The Ecuadorian Football Federation also joined in.

On May 14th, the Conmebol announced on its social media that Barcelona's stadium was one of the 15 applicants in South America for the tournament definition in 2022.
The final of the 2020 Libertadores will be held at the Maracaná stadium in Rio (Brazil).
The Barcelona stadium has hosted two Copa Libertadores finals, but in home and away series. In 1990, when the toreros faced Olimpia from Paraguay, and in 1998, when they played against Vasco da Gama. (D)
