With a goal from Colombian Cristian Martínez Borja, Liga de Quito drew 1-1 with Liga de Portoviejo this Saturday in the eleventh round of phase 1 of LigPro, preserving the top spot in the standings and keeping the lead for eight consecutive matches.
Borja, who replaced Uruguayan Rodrigo Aguirre in the starting lineup this weekend, scored the equalizer in the added time of a lengthy first half of 52 minutes.
Argentine Carlos Almada opened the scoring in favor of Capira at 18 minutes.
In the second half, Liga Quito dominated and showed persistence in front of Manuel Mendoza's goal, while Almada had a clear chance at 60 minutes, but the ball ended up too far back for him to define in the edge of the small area.
Defender Moisés Corozo sought the second goal for the Quito team from set-pieces, as he already demonstrated in the eighth round against Delfín, a team he scored against with a rocket for the university team's 1-0 victory.
Although they shared honors with the league leader, the Manabí team still fails to meet the expectations set at the beginning of the season and after the eleven rounds played, they occupy the bottom spots on the table with 9 points from 2 wins, 3 draws, and 6 losses. They have one of the most breached defenses, along with Olmedo, with 22 goals against.
However, the result this afternoon against Pablo Repetto's team serves Rubén Insúa's team to climb out of the basement and temporarily move up to 14th place. (D)
