With a double by Kevin Minda and the goals of Walter Chalá and Luis Chicaiza, Universidad Católica came out victorious on Sunday from their match against Liga de Portoviejo (4-0) to place second in LigaPro.

Católica came from behind to impose a thrashing on the team led by Argentine Rubén Darío Insúa, who had a good start at the Olímpico Atahualpa.

The Camaratas took the lead with Chalá's goal (15m), who beat goalkeeper Esteban Dreer with a frontal shot; and Minda scored the second goal at 36m after an action on the left side where he found the ball and hit it forcefully into the net.

After the break, Facundo Martínez at 55m gave the warning of the third goal with a shot from outside that hit the crossbar.

Defender Minda scored his double at 62m after a dive in which he anticipated Dreer to head the ball into the goal.

Luis Andrés Chicaiza sealed the game at 86m in a play that exposed the defensive flaws of Liga Portovejense, leaving Dreer exposed and easily beaten.

"It's a spectacular job by the whole team; we have to leave this game aside and already think about Wednesday's match (against Guayaquil City, in the port city), to try to get the three points," said Minda to the tournament's host channel. (D)
