With a double by Luis Fernando Gómez and a goal by Francisco Fydriszewski, Liga de Portoviejo convincingly defeated Guayaquil City (3-1) in a match of the seventh round of Phase 1 of the LigaPro 2020 tournament.
The first goal of the match was scored by Polaco Fydriszewski at 36 minutes after connecting a perfect pass from Vinicio Angulo.
The second goal was converted by Luis Gómez at 51m after an attack led by Angulo and supplied to Fydriszewski who gave the assist.
Veteran Marcos Mondaini reduced the difference at 67 with a shot from outside the box that caught his former teammate at Emelec, goalkeeper Esteban Dreer, off guard.
Gómez sealed Capira's victory with his second goal of the afternoon at 83m after a counterattack and a poor clearance by goalkeeper Gonzalo Valle.
"I am very happy for Liga de Portoviejo. Professor Insúa likes young players," said Gómez, chosen as the player of the match by the host channel GolTV.
Liga (P) thus gains its second victory in the 2020 LigaPro campaign and collects 8 points that place them in ninth position. City, despite the defeat, remains ahead of Portoviejo with 9 points. (D)
