Despite losing 2-0 to Delfin on Saturday night, coach Ismael Rescalvo saw "submission and dominance" from the electric team at the Jocay stadium.
The blues, like the cetaceans, returned to competition after a five-month hiatus due to the sports stoppage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
"The focus was to arrive well for the first game. I saw the team with stability, balance, submission and dominance. We lacked more scoring and efficiency," said the coach of the millionaires in the post-match press conference in Manta.
"We have generated very clear chances and we did not score," he said.

Strong goals from Carlos Garcés (minute 6) and Jonathan González (85) dashed the hopes of the blues to resume activity with a victory. The forward and captain of the cetaceans took advantage of the visitors' mistakes to score, while the second goal came in a counterattack that found the millionaires asleep in the area.
Otherwise, Emelec's strategy was futile, as they did not pose a major threat to Alain Baroja's goal.
"We knew that these were three important points. The team deserved it, but the merits obviously don't add up points. The game plan was fully executed. In the end, by generating so many goal opportunities and not converting them, we have to keep working and correcting," added Rescalvo.

Emelec will be in action again on Wednesday (19:15) when they host Mushuc Runa at the George Capwell stadium, for matchday 6. (D)
