The Brazilian joins a long list of candidates to take on the position of national team coach.

The experienced Brazilian manager Luis Felipe Scolari is reportedly being considered by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) to take over as the head coach of the national team, replacing Jordi Cruyff. Brazilian media outlet ENM states that Francisco Egas, the president of the organization, plans to hire a foreign strategist, and Scolari is among the names being considered, although there has been no official approach between the parties yet.

"Scolari's name was suggested by one of the leaders of the FEF," reported the Brazilian outlet on Monday. It adds that despite being 71 years old, Scolari still has the energy to prepare a team and take it to the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

ENM claims that Scolari dreams of being in the World Cup leading a team other than Brazil, and Ecuafútbol leaders "consider him ideal" to take the national team to its fourth World Cup.

Scolari led the Brazilian national team to the pentacampeonato by defeating Germany 2-0 in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup. He has also won two Copa Libertadores titles (Gremio-1995 and Palmeiras-1999), a Recopa Sudamericana (Gremio-1996), and a Copa Mercosur (Palmeiras-1998).

The names of Néstor Gorosito, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, Pablo Repetto, and Guillermo Almada also appear among the possible candidates to take over as the head coach of the Tricolor national team. (D)
