Máximo Banguera defended the goal of Barcelona SC between 2009 and 2019 (10 seasons), achieving two national titles (2012 and 2016) and a semifinal of the Copa Libertadores (2017), before the directive led by Carlos Alfaro Moreno decided to terminate his contract with the institution. The now goalkeeper of El Nacional revealed that after leaving the torero team, he received a call to cross over and sign with Emelec.

"They were looking for a goalkeeper, in fact, I met with (Nassib) Neme, we greeted each other (although no agreement was reached with Emelec). Besides, the gentleman is a gentleman," he added.
