For the tournament resumption, Geovanny Cumbicus takes charge of Olmedo, a club that, with the departure of Argentine Darío Franco, bets on the Loja strategist.
Cumbicus returns to the Serie A after he managed Mushuc Runa at the beginning of the 2019 season. This year he was in charge of Pelileo SC to play in the second division of Tungurahua; however, the club decided not to participate due to economic problems, and Cumbicus was free to take over the leadership of the "Cyclone".
The Loja coach arrives at Olmedo due to the "need" to cover Franco's resignation, who decided not to return from Argentina due to the coronavirus pandemic, said the club's vice president, Manuel Ubidia.
"We arrive with great expectations to manage and do a job that goes according to the history of a club like Olmedo. The objectives are set, the challenge will be to secure one of the spots in international tournaments, which is the most appealing in Ecuadorian football. We will fight and prepare ourselves for that," said the new coach of the Riobamba team.
Cumbicus arrives with a complete coaching staff, including Diego Ochoa as an assistant coach, Darwin Sarango in physical preparation, and César Ramos working with the goalkeepers.
"We take on a great commitment and hope to enhance the team. The goal is to fight in the top of the standings," said the coach, who will be in charge of Olmedo until the end of the season. (D)
