An action for protection against the board of the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) was filed
On Thursday, Francisco Javier Egas, who was president of the FEF until recently, when he was removed from office by six members of the board, filed an action for protection with a precautionary measure.
The action, which seeks to prevent a violation of constitutional rights, was filed by Egas' defense after 1:00 p.m. at the Civil Judicial Unit located in the Quitumbe Judicial Complex, in the south of Quito. The case is under the responsibility of Judge Cristian Danilo Silva.
Apparently, the members of the FEF board decided to remove Egas from office and appointed Jaime Estrada in his place, due to constant discussions about who was the president of the organization with the other directors, as well as the mortgage of the institution's building and not respecting the budget of $4 million to hire the new coaching staff for the senior national football team, led by Jordi Cruyff.
Lawyer Felipe Rodríguez is representing Egas in the legal defense.
So far, there is no defined date for the hearing in which the arguments of the action will be presented. (D)
