Quito -

The party was complete for Liga de Quito

On Saturday, January 25th, Liga de Quito presented a fantasy show to announce their 2020 team roster and new team uniforms. In the closing of the Noche Blanca, they defeated Fénix from Uruguay 2-0.

The university team opened the scoring at 12 minutes with a goal from Cristian Martínez Borja, and it seemed like a storm was coming for Juan Ramón Carrasco's team, who suffered a 7-0 defeat in Rodrigo Paz stadium back in 2009, when he coached the Uruguayan team River Plate.

However, the dominance of the azucenas was unsuccessful and they didn't increase the score. As the minutes passed, the visitors organized themselves and didn't have any scares.

After halftime, the match became boring and the fans only woke up with Jefferson Arce's goal (76m).

The match left midfielders Marcos Caicedo and Junior Sornoza, the stars signings of the albos for 2020, with injuries. Coach Pablo Repetto chose to replace them.

Caicedo showcased his quality in the 18 minutes he was on the field, with three dribbles; one of them ended in Martínez's goal.

Antonio Valencia, applauded during the presentation, played as an interior midfielder, occupying the position that Jefferson Orejuela played last year. In 2019, Toño performed as a full-back and right winger, as well as a midfielder.

Nearing the end of the match, Repetto substituted all eleven players, and the fans opted to look for the stadium exits.

Billy Arce, injured

In the afternoon, Liga's reserve team (Q) won 2-1 against Fénix's reserve team, in a match played at the Pomasqui complex.

In this match, midfielder Billy Arce suffered a sprained ankle and will be away from the field for about seven days. (D)
