Barcelona loses against Delfin in the presentation of their team
With the reinforcement of Italian Alessandro Del Piero as a special guest, Barcelona from Ecuador lost 0-1 on Saturday against the defending champion of Ecuadorian soccer, Delfin, in the presentation of the Barcelona team for the current season, in the so-called Yellow Night.
Del Piero, who played for 60 minutes, became the fifth guest of Barcelona in the presentation of their teams, as Brazilian Ronaldinho debuted in 2016, Uruguayan Diego Forlán in 2017, Brazilian Kaká in 2018, and Italian Andrea Pirlo in 2019.
The goal of the cetacean was scored by the team's leading scorer, Ecuadorian Carlos Garcés, at 32 minutes.
Shortly after the start of the match, Barcelona could have taken the lead, but the shot from Uruguayan forward Jonathan Alvez was partially blocked by Venezuelan goalkeeper Alain Baroja, and the ball ended up hitting the crossbar, just one minute into the game.
Delfin responded with a header by forward Garcés, which was saved by Argentine goalkeeper Javier Burrai in a great action.
Del Piero controlled the ball in a pass from the Argentine-Ecuadorian midfielder Damian Diaz, but shot over the crossbar.
Delfin took the lead after a double header involving forwards Juan Diego Rojas, who made a precise assist for Garcés to score at 32 minutes.
Barcelona and Delfin are preparing for the local tournaments of 2020 and for the next Copa Libertadores.
Barcelona will debut next Wednesday in the first round of the Libertadores in their visit to Progreso.
