Quito -
Camaraderie, smiles, jokes and even the "kick" of luck were present between Johan Padilla and Máximo Banguera, who was introduced as reinforcement for El Nacional on Wednesday afternoon. The two goalkeepers will compete for the starting position in the team's goal this season.
Banguera arrives with a contract for three seasons, Padilla's contract also extends until 2022. Padilla is considered for the national team's goal, a position that Banguera wants to regain. "It will be a healthy competition," said the flamante fichaje de los criollos in his presentation.

After the reinforcement ceremony on Wednesday, Henry Cangá and Felipe Mejía also joined the club, while Johan Padilla presented himself at El Nacional's headquarters. The two goalkeepers have already trained with the team and the good relationship was evident, with both sides wishing to have a good season.
"He is a good person, a great professional, he has shown it these days," said Padilla, while Banguera had the best wishes for the esmeraldeño. "It is a pleasure to share a position with Padilla, he is the best goalkeeper in Ecuadorian football. I am filled with joy and responsibility to join the club, I believe that we will learn from each other," said the guayaquileño.
Regarding his signing, Banguera spoke of a "great responsibility, as is the institution we have arrived at. A serious club," said the 34-year-old goalkeeper who set the goals for 2020 as "giving titles to El Nacional's fans" and seeking a return to the national team.
"The desire to come to Quito is also to be close to the national team," Banguera pointed out, who played his last game with the Tri in June 2019. (D)
