The word exchanges between Paz from Liga de Quito and Nassib Neme from Emelec continue. The president of the blues accused Rodrigo and Esteban of promoting "hatred" in Ecuadorian football three weeks ago.
"We were champions against Emelec (in 2018). Of course, their best player had already left. What was his name? (Rafael) Correa, I believe. It slipped my mind," said Rodrigo, lifelong president of U and father of Esteban.
In response, Neme said: "Emelec was champion in 2017 and runner-up in 2018, and there was no Correa here. And in the previous years, after reviewing the team roster, there was no player by that name either."
He continued: "The LigaPro and its Code of Ethics, all fine. The Paz family is disgraceful. They release statements and wear shirts for peace, but they only promote hatred. They are hypocrites. The sycophants with microphones who laugh at (Rodrigo Paz's) statements are even more shameful."
Esteban Paz refuted this in an interview with radio Huancavilca and said: "I believe that over the years the issue with Neme has become personal; we think differently and want different things. We see football differently, and it's not against Emelec."
He added: "I will continue to say that we need to investigate and eradicate the anti-football (which includes violence and alleged match-fixing). At no time did I mention Neme and Emelec (about a team that didn't deserve to enter the playoffs of Serie A), and the next day, Neme put on his gloves and called us clowns (him and his father)."
