The coach of Emelec, Ismael Rescalvo, described Macará as "a team that plays primitive football" after losing on Sunday at Bellavista and almost losing any chance to qualify for the quarterfinals of LigaPro.
In response to these statements, columnist Mario Canessa stated that if the Emelec coach "can't beat a primitive team" like he describes the league leader, it would be advisable to "remain silent" to avoid further trouble.
"If (Rescalvo) is not capable of beating a primitive team, it is advisable to remain silent. If he doesn't have the understanding to accept defeat or the education to congratulate the rival, who is the absolute leader with only one match lost, the most logical thing is to remain silent and not say any rude comments," Canessa expressed on Radio City.

According to the Spanish coach, who has more defeats (7) than victories (4) and a lower performance (36.11%) compared to his predecessor, Mariano Soso (48.15%), he is left with "positive feelings" because his players "had a great match." He even mentioned, "When I entered the locker room, the first thing I did was congratulate the players."
The defeat against the league leader Macará (52 points), who nearly doubles Emelec's points, left Rescalvo's team in tenth place with 27 points, the same amount as Guayaquil City, their next opponent. They have suffered four consecutive defeats since the draw with Técnico Universitario in round 19, the only point they have obtained out of the 18 disputed since their last victory, which occurred on July 13th, in round 17, against the last place team Fuerza Amarilla.
Nevertheless, Rescalvo assures that his team was better than Macará. "We did enough to at least draw the match. We had many goal opportunities and we didn't convert them. We made two mistakes (in Michael Estrada's goals) that the opponent took advantage of. In the end, that's what prevented us from obtaining points."

About Emelec's chances of reaching the top eight, Canessa said, "Miracles are difficult in football, the trend is among the teams that are fighting for qualification. The only hope is that El Nacional doesn't win anything and that Emelec wins everything, but it's very difficult." There are seven rounds left. (D)
