Alianza Lima midfielder Andrés Andrade breaks his silence
Alianza Lima midfielder Andrés Andrade broke his silence a few hours before undergoing surgery on his left knee, after suffering a relapse prior to the match against Universidad César Vallejo last Saturday for the Clausura Tournament.
Through his social media, the Colombian midfielder confirmed that he will undergo surgery tomorrow in the city of Medellín, Colombia, and provided details about how his problem in the left knee worsened.
"I had an injury about two months ago, almost nine weeks ago, it was right in the match against Libertad in the Libertadores, in Saturday's practice I injured myself trying to shoot, the shoe got stuck on the field, the knee suffered a lot, immediately an MRI was done to see what I had, the results showed that I tore the anterior cruciate ligament and the meniscus. At that time, no statement was made by the club or by me, since the diagnosis indicated that I could return to play with a stable knee, so I had to wait seven weeks to compete, and I fully complied with what was said, sometimes even training on my own to be able to play some matches, just as I did," he said.
"Last week, before the game in Trujillo, on Thursday I relapse again, I felt the knee unstable again, another MRI was done and it showed that the cruciate was still torn, but the meniscus had also torn, at that moment I spoke with the doctors I have for this type of injury here in Colombia and they told me that I couldn't wait any longer and that I had to have urgent surgery," he added.
Denies having arrived injured
Similarly, Andrade responded to rumors that he had arrived at the "íntimo" team already injured, categorically rejecting such a possibility.
"I want to make it clear, as I don't want my professional ethics or my human being to be played with. 'Rifle' Andrade has never had a left knee injury, I never had a cruciate injury, I didn't arrive at Alianza Lima injured, when I joined the team I came from a long season with Atlético Nacional. I am at peace with my conscience and I can make that clear. I didn't arrive at Alianza 'broken'," he said.
