With a great performance from their breakout player Linda Caicedo, Colombia smiled in their debut at the Women's World Cup this Tuesday with a 2-0 victory over South Korea that leaves them with great chances of advancing to the second round.
Veteran Catalina Usme scored in the 30th minute from a penalty after a series of Colombian shots that ended when Korean defender Shim Seoyeon blocked the ball with her hand.
The second goal came in the 38th minute after a run by youth player Linda Caicedo down the left wing, which ended with a shot from outside the box. The ball slipped through the hands of Asian goalkeeper Yoon Younggeul.
In the debut of both teams in this World Cup of Australia and New Zealand, the Sydney Football Stadium was filled with a huge amount of Colombian fans wearing colorful outfits who never stopped cheering for the team.
