The Kings League is a competition in which 12 teams participate in matches every week, until reaching the playoff phase. At this moment, the matches will continue until the winner of the first edition is announced. The creation of this league is attributable to Gerard Piqué and Ibai Llanos, and was made possible thanks to Kosmos. Juan Guarnizo, a Colombian streamer, is the leader of Aniquiladores FC club.
In one of his Twitch streams, Juan Guarnizo, the Colombian streamer and leader of the Aniquiladores FC club in the Kings League, revealed that he had a dialogue with his compatriot James Rodríguez, who currently plays for Olympiacos, and invited him to be part of his team.
"I spoke to James Rodríguez, I can only say that I asked him if he is aware of what this is about. Simply, I can tell you that I had a conversation with him, nothing more. It was a very light conversation. I haven't asked him anything at all, I just asked him, hey, are you aware of everything about King's League and he said 'yes, I've seen some things and I don't know what'". Said the Colombian streamer.
Which teams play in the Kings league?
The inaugural season of the league has begun. The original idea was to bring together some of the most outstanding streamers in the world and make them owners of 12 football teams. Each club is led by a "president", including former football players such as Iker Casillas and Sergio "Kun" Agüero. The participating clubs are: Porcinos FC (Ibai Llanos), Saiyans FC (TheGrefg), Ultimate Móstoles (DjMaRiio), El Barrio (Adri Contreras), Kunisports (Kun Agüero), Pio FC (Rivers), Aniquiladores (Juan Guarnizo), Los Troncos (Perxitaa), 1K FC (Iker Casillas), Rayo de Barcelona (Spursito), Xbuyer Team (Hermanos Buyer), Jijantes FC (Gerard Romero).
The Kings League has caused a great impact due to its format and acceptance among figures and participants. In addition, its innovative way of governing, which allows its rules to be voted on by followers and Twitch users, the platform where the matches are broadcasted, has drawn attention. Fans are eagerly following the league, as it has been announced that the final stage matches will take place at Camp Nou, home of FC Barcelona and former team of Gerard Piqué.
